How RESILIENCE runs on its own team of AI agents

We build AI agents for founders. We also run our own company on them. This page covers how the team is set up, where a human stays in the loop, and what broke along the way.

The team

Each agent has one job and a short written brief.

  • COO: runs operations across the other agents. Keeps one shared brief and a status log, and bundles drafts for approval.
  • Marketing: writes pages, a weekly teardown of an AI-built app, and build-in-public drafts.
  • Social: schedules posts and drafts replies. It is the only agent that makes videos.
  • Leads & Engagements: researches leads and partners and drafts personalized follow-ups.
  • Closer: writes a one-page brief before every booked meeting (who, what they need, which offer fits, likely objections).
  • Admin: maintains the website, pricing page, and uptime.
  • Booking: watches the calendar, labels test bookings, and flags the first real discovery call.
  • Reputation: collects real feedback, asked for with permission. Never invented.

Where a human stays in charge

  • Nothing new goes to a prospect without the founder's OK. Agents send drafts to the COO, and the COO bundles them for one approval.
  • No cold email on their own. Outreach is drafted for review, not sent unattended.
  • Anything posted under the founder's name, he posts himself.
  • One switch stops everything. A single "pause all" puts every agent on hold until it's lifted.

Budget discipline

Agents cost money every time they think. When the monthly budget ran low, we turned on lean mode:

  • A weekly spending target, with each week's share of the monthly budget set aside.
  • Only a few routines keep running, each on a fixed daily cap (for example, uptime checks once a day and calendar checks three times a day).
  • Every other agent works on demand only, when the COO or the founder asks.
  • We built a weekday usage check that alerts on quota errors, missed runs, and spend spikes. In lean mode it's paused and spend is reviewed by hand, while a daily uptime check still alerts the moment a key page fails.

What broke, and what we changed

  • Silent failure. One model key was on a free tier. Calls kept failing, nothing flagged it, and the work came back empty. Change: the usage check above.
  • Duplicate posts. Our social agents posted the same asset twice on the same day. The repeats got 0 impressions. Change: at most one post per channel per day, and no same-day repeats.
  • Too many offers. In one week we promoted about 8 different services, so nobody could tell what we sell. Change: one offer at a time.
  • Broadcasting into empty feeds. We posted a lot and replied to almost no one. Change: useful replies in founder threads come before more posts.

Lessons for founders building with agents

  1. Give each agent one small job and a written brief.
  2. Put a human approval step in front of anything that reaches a customer.
  3. Set an alarm for silence. Agents don't fail loudly.
  4. Treat tokens like payroll. Cap routines and run everything else on demand.
